Hollywood, CA
Justin is in Hollywood, CA recording songs for his new album. Yesterday he worked on "Fading Lights." Ten months ago, Justin was performing at the Hard Rock Cafe in Washington DC for a BMI singer-songwriter showcase. "Racine" was just an idea being worked on backstage at the Strathmore in Bethesda, MD. Now it's a song about falling in love with a hooker from Racine, Wisconsin.

Anvil! The Story of Anvil
I have an idea for a fictional TV series about an upcoming musician, following the journey of his dreams. Like "Entourage," before they were famous. Even before they were "Almost Famous." After talking about it with Justin for a while, he asked if I had seen the documentary about Anvil. When I said no, he quickly replied that he did not want to talk about this TV show idea until I had watched the documentary.
I watched it last night. Brilliant. I'm not into heavy metal, but I root for the band. In the audio commentary -- yes I watched the movie twice -- the director discussed how he pitched the movie as part of an overall experience. Anvil is now touring, except the movie is the opening act. This was the premise of my idea with Justin, how can I use my talents as a storyteller and photographer to help promote Justin in today's digital landscape. Hopefully by early May, I'll have made some money which will allow me to return some focus to the Justin Jones story.
Here is the trailer for Anvil. Rent it.

"Drown in My Own Tears" -- Rehearsal
I know, I haven't written in a long, long time. I've unsuccessfully tried to start a couple of times. Tomorrow I'm flying to Arizona, so I'll focus and reflect on the past few months. Until then, here is Justin and the band rehearsing "Drown in My Own Tears" at the Field School in Washington DC on Tuesday March 15, 2011.
Justin Jones & Josh Read (of The Deadmen) | January 28, 2011
(DYL Note: The Deadmen, Justin's other band, is performing at Ottobar in Baltmore, MD tomorrow night.)
Justin called and invited me over to Josh's house; the two of them were going to hang out and play some music. They played a few songs, including "Robin," "Sons & Daughters," and a John Bustine cover.
But it is moments like this that I really like. Josh was flipping through his notebooks, filled with lyrics. When he stopped at this unfinished song...
